Kate Winslet
roots out secret agents in the intriguing Enigma
The Stars: Kate Winslet and Dougray Scott
The Story: A mathematician (Scott) working for British intelligence during World
War II learns that his work is being compromised by a German spy. He joins
forces with a plucky colleague (Winslet) to get to the bottom of things.
What's Good: Eye-catching period costumes and sets, plus solid work from both
the brooding Scott and the
menacing Jeremy Northam.
Winslet has a blast as a sort of English Nancy Drew, and screenwriter Tom
Stoppard provides crackling dialogue.
What's Bad: Twists and turns that get a little too head-spinning.
